Bhubaneswar: The economic offences wing of the state crime branch arrested a builder Wednesday on an allegation he duped investors of Rs 4.5 crore on the pretext of constructing and providing flats.
The builder was Premananda Mohapatra, managing director of Golden View Infrastructure Pvt Ltd. Acting swiftly on a tip off about his presence near a mall here, crime branch officials swooped down on him and effected the arrest.
Mohapatra had allegedly taken Rs4.5crore from some persons promising them with flats at Tomando, on the outskirts of the city within two years’ time. With the given timeline passed and as the investors failed to get the flats, they asked Mohapatra to return their money. He simply absconded.
The investors approached the economic offences wing of the state police and lodged a complaint, leading to the arrest.
