Baripada: An accused managed to escape from police custody while he was being shifted from Baisinga police station to Baripada jail in Mayurbhanj district Tuesday.
Santosh Sahu and Baren Sahu of Bachuripada had filed cases against each other over a land dispute. Police arrested the two and produced them in the SDJM court. As their bail pleas were rejected, they were being taken to Baripada jail under the custody of two constables in a bus.
As the bus reached MPC Junior College, Santosh escaped through a window of the bus. IIC Renubala Sahu confirmed the incident.
