The debonair inspector Kavi of the tele serial ‘Hum Ne Li Hai Shapath’ was played by Aamir Dalvi, a well-known face in the television industry today. The actor has recently entered the show ‘Bhaage Re Mann’ in the role of Rudra.
Dilating on the venture Aamir said, “I am really excited to be a part of ‘Bhaage Re Mann’. My character, Rudra, is Padmini’s old buddy. He is an interesting character.”
Aamir said that acting was something he had always wanted to do since childhood.
“Acting always had an irresistible attraction for me and engaged all my attention as a child. But as a kid I didn’t get the kind of opportunity I hankered after. Many friends during college days were active in organising plays and other activities and I used to help them backstage. After graduation, the time came when my father asked me what I wanted to do next. I summoned courage to lay bare my heart before him. I somehow managed to tell him that I wanted to become an actor. Initially, he was a bit reluctant as my elder brother also had similar ambitions but could not get dad’s permission.”
“I was, however, lucky,” continued Aamir, “as my father was okay with my choice of career. But he asked me to complete my computer course simultaneously with pursuing acting. I consider myself fortunate that in the first six months of my career I landed my first show, ‘Nyaya’, which went on successfully on Doordarshan for two years. And as time passed, I started getting more and more offers. Today I am a known face in the television industry.”
For the ‘Bhaage Re Mann’ actor, bagging the role of a lead character in a TV soap opera was not an easy job – it took him eight long years. In 2006, the actor got his first offer in the serial ‘Saathi Re’ in which he played the role of the protagonist (Rajiv). In the eight years that he struggled to get a footing in the television industry Aamir worked hard to hone his acting skills.
For the actor, the right script is of paramount importance. While choosing a script the aspects he focuses on are a good role, an appealing storyline and, of course, the reimbursement.
“I am really thankful to god for being so kind to me. I got to do some really interesting roles on television, which not only helped me stand out as an actor, but also kept that creative hunger in me alive,” he said.
Aamir has displayed his acting prowess in different roles on television like in ‘Shapath-Supercops vs Supervillians’, ‘Sanskaar Laxmi’, ‘Parvarish 2’, ‘Jeevan Saathi’ and ‘Saathi Re’, among others.
He has also acted in films like ‘Viruddh’ by Mahesh Manjrekar, ‘Calcutta Mail’ by Sudhir Mishra and ‘Dilli Gang’ by Rajeshwar Tyagi.
The actor shares a great rapport with his co-stars as well as producers and directors. He is a livewire on the sets. “There are many memorable moments in my career. It is a fun to be on the sets as every day brings in its wake new and enjoyable experiences. My equations with the cast and crew of the productions I have so far worked in have been great,” he stated.
To the query as to what his plans are about making a steady transition to the big screen, the actor noted that acting is what matters to him and the roles that he is given to portray rather than the medium. The ‘Saathi Re’ actor said: “If a good offer comes my way I would never turn it down. But performances matter and not whether they are being delivered in films or TV soaps.”
The actor who is playing the character of Rudra in the serial ‘Bhaage Re Mann’ has great respect for every co-actor. “I believe all the actors I have so far worked with have great talent and some of them great potential. They are all my favourites,” he replied when asked who his favourite actor was.
In his 12-year career Aamir has been awarded by the Indian Telly Jury Award as the best actor in a supporting role for the serial ‘Hum Ne Li Hai Shapath’.
Aamir is also a professional dirt bike racer who bagged the second position in the Pune Invitational Super Cross League.
