Chandigarh: After Hema Malini, her step son Sunny Deol is soon taking a plunge into politics if reports are to be believed.
Recently, a picture of the Action star meeting BJP chief Amit Shah has been going viral. The ‘Jeet’ actor met Shah in New Delhi. As the party is yet to announce candidates from three seats in Punjab, many speculations are doing the rounds that Shah was requesting Deol to contest from Amritsar.
However, Sunny has refuted the rumours. He said: “I heard about it (rumours about joining politics). I just met him (Amit Shah) and we took a photograph, that’s it,” Sunny Deol told.
The BJP, that has formed an alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal, is fighting three of the 13 parliamentary seats in Punjab: Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur.
For Amritsar, the BJP had also contemplated the names of actor Poonam Dhillon and Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. Gurdaspur seat is likely to go to actor and former lawmaker’s Vinod Khanna’s wife Kavita Khanna or his son, actor Akshaye Khanna.
Punjab will vote in a single phase, May 19, the last day of the seven-phased national election.
