Aditya emerges sole leader in U-15 meet

Players in action during their U-15 State Open Chess Championships matches in Cuttack, Tuesday

Cuttack: Aditya Ranjan Samal emerged sole leader with five points after completion of the fifth round of the Open category at the U-15 State Open Chess Championships here, Tuesday.

Tournament top seed Aditya maintained his all-win record in the meet after defeating Priyansh Das in his fifth round match.

In the other matches played on the day, Harshit Ranjan Sahu outplayed Saswat Mallick, Dikshant Das got the better of Koustuv Das, Arya Arnav Samantray beat Satyam Nayak, Aditya Anurakt Mohanty defeated Sujyot Mohanty, Sriyansh Das outclassed Animesh Singh and Suryapranjal Indrajeet outwitted Rajveer B Pal.

Sarthak, Shreyas, Rudra and Harshit are sharing the joint second position with 4.5 points each in their kitty.

In the Girls’ category, Bijaylaxmi Barik, Priyanka Routray and Dolicious Das are among the joint leaders with 4.5 points each in their kitty while P Sairupa, Ankita Sahoo, Suhana Jena and Adhisa Das are in joint second position with four points apiece. Miracle Panda, Payal Das, Sanchi Sahoo, Sreyashi Malla and Sreyasruti Mohanty are sharing the third position, having 3.5 points each.
