Malkangiri: The district administration Friday imposed prohibitory orders under CrPc section-144 at a market at Jantapai under the Swabhiman Anchal after the alleged murder of a local tribal man.
The move came after locals in large numbers holding traditional weapons gathered at Jantapai weekly market expressing strong resentment against the security personnel.
Tension ran high at Jantapai market under Chitrakonda block Friday morning over death of a local identified as Raju Hantal last week.
In view of locals gathering following the incident, the district closed the weekly market with prohibitory orders to maintain peace.
According to reports, Raju Hantal, a resident of Ranginiguda village under Chitrakonda block, was picked up by BSF jawans September 13. The next day, his body was found at Jantapai market. Locals alleged that the security personnel killed Hantal.
