Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) have planned to introduce a slew of measures to ensure security at the upcoming Bali Yatra here, one of the biggest trade fairs in the state.
City Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Akhilesvar Singh recently convened a high-level meeting to deliberate on security issues at the fairground.
As per the decisions taken at the meeting, the CMC would take steps to illuminate the entire fairground and a portion of the Mahanadi riverbank for convenience of the visitors.
Besides, the Commissionerate Police would issue no objection certificates (NOCs) to all stall owners. “We would open a single window clearance counter at the fairground November 5 to issue NOCs to stall owners,” said a senior police officer.
That apart, fire safety measures would be made mandatory for all stalls at the fairground. “All stall owners are bound to collect NOCs from the Fire department. Besides, prior permission from the Commissionerate Police is required to use loudspeakers at the stalls,” added the police officer.
According to him, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (traffic), local tehsildar and police in-charge would identify suitable places for parking lots. The leaseholders of the parking lots would have to install the rate charts in English and Odia for convenience of visitors, added the official.
It is learnt that the Commissionerate Police would deploy adequate security personnel at the fairground to manage crowd and ensure law and order.
Sources added that Singh has asked the district child protection officer to keep tab on the children roaming in suspicious manner at the fairground.
