Bhubaneswar, June 6: The admission process for RD Women’s’ University, Khallikote Cluster University and Gangadhar Meher University will commence soon as the government has directed the authorities to issue admission notifications by June 12, higher education joint secretary AK Nayak said Saturday.
“Today we held a meeting with the officers on special duty (OSDs) appointed on charge of the three universities. The meeting decided that the institutions will issue notifications for admissions to various under graduate and post graduate (PG) courses by June 12,” Nayak stated.
The GM University and Khallikote University have 17 PG departments each now and they will continue with the existing PG seats in this academic session (2015-16). However, the RD Women’s University, which has only two PG departments, will have three more departments, he added.
Currently, only Hindi and Home Science PG courses are offered at RD women’s. As per the decision, three new PG departments – School of Life Science, School of Economics & Finance and School and Gender Equality – will be opened in the university, the joint secretary stated.
“The new courses will be added once the universities start functioning in a full-fledged manner,” the official said.
Besides, the OSDs have been asked to appoint registrar-in-charge, controller of examination-in-charge and controller of finance-in-charge, which are essential for the institutes’ functioning. “They will continue in their respective offices till regular officers are appointed,” he added.
While PG and UG courses would be controlled by the universities, Plus II courses would be under the administrative control of the department. The new universities will function on the line of other state universities.
Asked about the students studying under other universities, Nayak said, “The existing students will continue under the respective universities, while the newly joined students will come under the three new universities.”
For instance, if a Plus III or PG student is currently studying in a women’s college, affiliated to Utkal University, she will continue with the same college and Utkal University will conduct the exam apart from providing the certificates.
