Amrit salvages draw

Sambalpur: Opener Amrit Khatua stood tall to save Orissa from blushes with a brilliant century (150 n o, 385b, 23×4) as their U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy Plate Group B match against Uttar Pradesh ended in a draw at the VSS Stadium here, Sunday.

Resuming the day on 122/2, Orissa managed to score another 246 runs for the loss of three wickets when the stumps were drawn. However, Uttar Pradesh took away crucial three points by the virtue of their first innings lead.

Man of the match Amrit along with Debasish Samantray (78, 123b, 12×4, 2×6) started from where they left the previous day playing some beautiful shots in front of a small crowd. The pair added 121 runs for the third wicket before the latter was caught behind of the bowling of Dhurv Pratap Singh.

Devendra Kunwar (50, 90b, 7×4, 1×6) also played a good hand partnering Khatua as the duo added 98 runs for the fifth wicket before he was caught by Hardeep Singh of Parth Mishra. For UP Parth Mishra(3/81) was the pick of the bowlers.
