Nayagarh: A tea seller suffered severe burns when a customer threw a frying pan containing hot oil at him as he could not serve tea him immediately, reports said.
The victim, Krushna Chandra Sahu of Bakalabandha village, suffered burns on his torso, thighs and hands. He was rushed to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
The accused has been identified as Jugal Baral of a nearby village. Baral had come to Sahu’s shop to have tea. He took a seat at a table and ordered tea.
An argument started between the two after Baral asked Sahu to serve tea immediately. But Sahu took some time to give tea to Baral as the shop was crowded. This angered Baral, and he took a frying pan containing hot oil and threw it at Sahu.
Sahu’s family immediately rushed him to the DHH where he is undergoing treatment. Sahu sustained 45 per cent burns, sources said.
“As there were many customers there was a delay in serving tea. He threatened to kill me and destroy my shop,” Sahu said.
Nayagarh police arrested Baral. “We have arrested the culprit and have registered a case against him. He will be presented in court,” said Nayagarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sudhakar Sahu.
