Jajpur office: Yet another worker was crushed to death at a stone quarry near Nuagad village under Dharmasala block in Jajpur district early Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Guru Charan Behera (25), son of Abhin Behera of Pingal village under Kalinganagar police limits. No police complaint was lodged in this connection.
The incident comes at a time when at least 15 workers have lost their lives in the stone quarries under Dharmasala tehsil alone in the last one year. However, the administration is yet to crack down on the quarries, most of which are illegal.
Guru was working in the quarry when a large stone rolled down the hill and crushed him. Coworkers rushed him to Cuttack-based SCB Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. PNN
