Bhubaneswar, Dec 12: Ansu Kumar Bhuyan and Ashutosh Das entered the final in men’s singles of the Nalco Open Tennis tournament after winning their respective matches at the Kalinga Stadium here Saturday. The final will be played Sunday. Ansu triumphed over Sumit Khera 6-2 while Ashutosh thrashed Deepak Kumar Nayak 6-0.
In-form Rutuparna Choudhury also entered the final of the women’s singles event. Rutuparna prevailed over Anaam Almas 6-1 in the first semifinal.
In men’s doubles, the duo of Ansu and Avilash Mishra along with Vickey Harra and Gulliver Low made it to the semifinals. Ansu-Avilash edged out Prasant Behera and Susant Sahoo 6-5 (7-4) while Vicky and Gulliver trounced Arun Kumar Nayak and Anand Senapati 6-2.
Easy wins
Rising Star and Independent Clubs won their respective matches in the FAO First Division Super League at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Saturday.
In the first match, Rising Star rode on a brace by Bijay Behera to blank Bidanasi Club 2-0. Sports Hostel pipped Independent Club by a solitary goal scored by Philip.
