Officials say the exhibition would go on till February 28. “The national art exhibition on Nabakalebar was inaugurated Thursday. The event will go on for the next two days and will culminate on February 28. The main objective of the event is to popularise the Nabakalebar event and also to give platform to artists to portray their work dedicated to the theme. Many artists have come to the fore to bring their own creations,” said Prasanth Mishra, member of Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi.
An appreciable crowd, comprising people from all walks of life, flocked to the venue after the event was thrown open to the public. Artists who made the paintings were also present in the venue. Priyanka Mohanty, student of OUAT, present at the venue said, “I like to visit painting exhibitions. I read about the programme in some newspapers and came to the venue to get a glimpse of the paintings. Also, Nabakalebar as an event is of paramount importance to Orissa, I just want to see what experiments painters can do with the theme.”
Another visitor, Debasis Swain, a working professional in a marketing firm said, “I often visit some of the painting and art exhibitions at Soochna Bhavan.
This time too I came here with some of my friends to see the art work. This time most of the paintings seem to be inspired by the Nabakalebar theme. There are various amazing paintings which touched me.”
The art exhibition has more than 30 paintings made by several artists from different parts of the state. Most of the paintings were inspired by mythology.
