Bhubaneswar:Art lovers had a chance to explore a variety of art exhibited in the backdrop of Khandagiri and Udayagiri hill caves. There was also dance and music in the air. The art expo was hosted by Tourism and Culture department at the venue wherein the several art institutions including Lalit Kala Akademi, Dhauli College of Art and Craft, Subhadra Art Gallery, State Museum, Archaeological survey of India participated. More than 100 artists took part in the art shows on various themes such as history of Orissa, Culture, Sculpture and photography.
Manas Ranjan Jena, secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi. Painter Gajendra Kumar Pani drew the sketch of King Kharavela and his history while Gajendra Sahoo presented an art in which he described the temples as jewels. The 15 artists were awarded a cash prize of Rs 11,000 each. In another art exhibition, 17 artists put up paintings showcased by Dhauli College of Art and Culture and martial arts of Paikas, stated college principal Panchanan Samal. Apart from the paintings, a photo exhibition also attracted several viewers. The photo expo sponsored by the state archives and state museum depicted ancient temples, Jain and Buddhists sites. Subhadra art gallery, meanwhile, offered tributes to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi.
