Sohela: Taking stern action, Bargarh Superintendent of Police Mukesh Bhamu Sunday night suspended ASI Banamali Kuanr at Sohela police station for allegedly raping a minor girl.
Medical examination of the victim has been conducted at Bargarh district hospital. The medical tests of ASI and another accused are yet to be done.
IIC Nirmal Kumar Mohapatra said, “Medical examination of the ASI and another accused will be conducted today.”
According to reports, the girl was residing at her uncle’s house. She left Deeptipur for tuition Friday morning but did not return by evening. The girl’s relatives lodged a missing persons’ complaint at Melchhamunda police station Friday evening.
On registering a case, the police launched an operation and rescued the girl from Sohela Saturday evening and handed over her to her family members.
She narrated her ordeal after being questioned by her relatives. The victim has alleged in her complaint that she was kidnapped by a youth to Sohela on his bike. The youth reached Sohela police station where he met the ASI and collected the key of the latter’s rented house. He allegedly raped the girl in the house and later locked her up before fleeing.
Later, the ASI took the girl to the police station by covering her face and raped her in the night following which she lost her consciousness.
When the girl regained her senses, she was sent back to Bargarh in a bus by the ASI Saturday. The ASI rang up the girl in the evening and asked her to come back to Sohela as her parents were anxious to meet her.
The girl arrived at Sohela Thana Chhak from where the Melchhamunda police rescued the girl.
