Bhubaneswar: The Infocity police have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly selling country-made liquor and seized 400 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession near Jalimundasahi here Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Chandan Munda, 21, a native of Kendujhar district who was residing at Jalimundasahi under Infocity police limits. According to police, a team was patrolling the area at around 10am when it received information that a person was selling country liquor along the roadside at Jalimundasahi. Acting on the tip-off, the police reached the spot and detained Munda. During a search, police recovered 400 pouches of country liquor kept inside a white plastic sack.
Each pouch contained 100 ml of liquor, taking the total seized quantity to 40 litres. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to engaging in the illegal trade for additional income, police said. Infocity police registered a case number 904 dated September 22 under Section 52(a) of the Odisha Excise Act, 2008.
