Junagarh: A pregnant woman had to deliver at home after a 102-ambulance failed to reach her doorsteps due to bad road conditions at Kandipadar village in remote Mundaraguda panchayat under this block in Kalahandi district Monday.
The woman was identified as Manjula Patel, wife of Mohan Patel in the village which is surrounded by hills and forest. Her family members rang up a 102-ambulance to ferry her to the hospital after she experienced labour pain.
However, the vehicle after coming near Pandrapali village, failed to reach near her doorsteps due to the presence of two nullahs and bad road conditions. As a result of the delay, the woman could no longer bear the labour pain and finally delivered a baby girl at home.
The condition of the woman deteriorated after delivery due to lack of proper medical care following which her family members carried her on a cot for over 1.5 km to Pandarapali from where she boarded the ambulance and reached the Chilguda community health centre.
