Balasore girl scripts success story at NASA, brings glory to Odisha

Balasore: A Class-IX girl student of Saint Vincent’s Convent Senior Secondary School here has been selected with three others for the prestigious NASA scholarship awarded by Florida institute of Technology.

Anuska Ray and 12 other students from St Vincent’s had participated in a conference titled ‘International Space Science Conference’ at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) centre in the US. There were many other students from India as well as abroad, who had been a part of the conference. In the end Anuska finished among the top four and earned herself a scholarship.

Anuska’s achievement has now become the talk of the town here. Her parents, teachers and the students of St Vincent’s are on cloud nine. “Her achievement has brought glory not only to the institution or to the district alone, but also to the whole state,” said Sister Kripa, Principal of the institution.

The students had taken part in the three-day long conference which started April 13. They had also visited NASA centre.

During their visit, they had the privilege of meeting astronaut Winston Scott, who is the director of Florida Institute of Technology and other scientists.

Notably, the students of the institution qualified for the NASA conference after being successful in a national level test.
