Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: The College of Basic Science and Humanities, the third constituent college of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) Monday celebrated its 50 years of glorious saga in the field of higher education in the state.
Governor SC Jamir inaugurates the golden jubilee celebration. He congratulates the students and the faculty on the successful completion of half-a-century of imparting education to young men and women and on the achievement of glorious feats in the past years.
“Our young men and women must focus on preparing themselves to grasp all possible opportunities lying open to them. The students should use their optimum time in college to acquire a brilliant mind, and wisdom to understand life with its duties and responsibilities,” said Jamir.
Jamir further encouraged the students to achieve the ‘maximum’ in their life. “We need a spirit of victory, a spirit that will carry us to our rightful place under the sun, a sprit, which can recognize that we, as inheritors of a proud civilization, are entitled to a right place on this planet. If that indomitable spirit were to arise, nothing can hold us from achieving our rightful destiny,” said the Governor.
Speaking on the achievement of the college in past years, director Bikas Panda said that being a college of science the students were not in any way behind in arts and literature, games and sprots. “We believe in all round development of students and have always tried to foster lover for games, sports and the finer sprits of life as well. The literary achievements of our students have also been commendable,” said Panda.
The function was attended by OUAT vice-chancellor Manoranjan Kar, former vice-chancellor DP Ray along with students’ union advisor Pradip Jena, president Sashikanta Parida, vice president Surya Narayan Behera, general secretary Mir Asraf Ali and assistant secretary Soumya Ranjan Jena among a host of dignitaries.
