Berhampur: Badabazar police here arrested a youth for kidnapping and raping a minor girl and forwarded him to court Saturday after rescuing the minor girl.
The accused was identified as G Durga Rao aka Nani (23) of Prem Nagar lane-3 in Berhampur.
Police Friday conducted the medical check-up of both the accused and the victim and the statement of the minor girl was recorded under section-164 before the court.
As per the statement of the girl, the accused was forwarded to court in rape case and sent to judicial custody, Saturday.
According to the police, a complaint regarding kidnapping of a 17-year-old minor girl was lodged at Badabazar Police Station, last February. Police then registered a case (No-40/23) and started investigation.
After kidnapping the minor, the accused took her out of the state. There he raped her repeatedly, said the victim. As per the recorded statement of the victim under section-161 before the police, the accused even married her there.
