Bhubaneswar emerge overall champs

Bhubaneswar, April 4: Bhubaneswar emerged as the overall champions in the 27th State Karate Championship which concluded at the Utkal Karate School here Friday night. Rourkela finished second.

Anupama Swain once more hogged the limelight by winning the gold in the female individual kumite while Bikash Digal did a repeat act in the 67kg male kumite category. Krushna Chandra Moharana and Debashis Mohanty stood first in the 50kg and 75kg categories of men’s kumite.

Dillip Kumar Jena and Sagar Palo took the top honours in the 55kg and 84kg events respectively. Similarly Santosh Kumar Moharana and Raj Narayan Khuntia won gold in 61kg and 84kg categories respectively.
