Bhubaneswar Tigers enter semis

Cuttack: The rain-delayed match between Rourkela Steelers and Bhubaneswar Tigers was reduced to 15 overs per side. Bhubaneswar Tigers defeated Rourkela Steelers by 5 wickets with 20 balls to spare, thereby sealing their berth in the semifinals of the Odisha Pro T20 League 2025 at the Barabati Stadium Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 92, Satyakam Bharadwaj and Gaurav Choudhary opened the innings for Bhubaneswar Tigers. Despite an early setback with the score at 5, Satyakam anchored the chase with a brilliant unbeaten knock of 65 runs off 34 deliveries, guiding his team to victory. The Tigers reached 92/5 in 11.4 overs.

For Rourkela Steelers, Pradeep Pradhan (2/24) and Asutosh Marndi (2/17) were the only wicket-takers. After winning the toss, Bhubaneswar Tigers chose to bowl first. For Rourkela Steelers, Akash Mohapatra and Aashirwad Swain came to open the innings. Aashirwad made 22 in 17 balls. Swoop Bhuyan remained the top scorer for his side as he remained unbeaten on 31* in 18 balls. Saswat Mohanty made a valiant contribution of 16 in 17 balls to help his team post a total of 91/8 at the end of 15th over.

For Bhubaneswar Tigers, Debabrata Pradhan(2/15), Suryakant Pradhan(2/13) and Badal Biswal(2/15) picked two wickets each in the innings. Jayanta Behera(1/26) and Subham Priyadarshi(1/16) grabbed one wicket each in the innings. Player of the Match Satyakam said, “This was a do or die match for us. I used to bat in lower order. But today we had a different plan and executed it quite well to register a win.”
