Bhubaneswar, May 5: The move to separate Plus II from Plus III seems to have become an ordeal with higher education and school and mass education departments dilly-dallying the process.
A high-level committee comprising officials of both the departments was constituted March 21 to prepare and submit a roadmap for separating the departments within 15 days, however the committee is yet prepare any report.
“It is a vast task. All colleges in the state having Plus III are functioning along with Plus II. We have to analyse the prospects such as the infrastructure, staff and student strength. It will certainly take time to complete the analysis,” said a committee member.
It was decided that higher education and school and mass education departments will attend the Project Approval Board (PAB) meeting at New Delhi to ascertain availability of funds for Plus II junior colleges under Rastriya Madhyamik Sikshya Abhiyan (RMSA).
“The accomplishment of the project will need huge money and time. It was decided to prepare a detailed project report to avail funds from the Union government for the process,” said the
official.
In order to ensure quality education, the Centre had proposed to separate Plus II from Plus III and integrate Plus II in school and mass education (SME) department, but due to infrastructure and faculty problems, the separation process remained incomplete.
