Berhampur: The king-pin of a bike lifting racket has been arrested and nine bikes were recovered from his possession, said the Ganjam police Friday.
The arrested king-pin has been identified as L Shiva Reddy, a native of Gokarnapur under Digapahandi police limits in Ganjam district.
Informing about the gang, additional Superintendent of Police, Berhampur, Prabhat Kumar Routray said, “L Shiva and aides lifted many bikes from different places including MKCG campus, Gosainnuagaon and Baidyanathpur area. Our efforts are on to nab L Shiva’s associates.”
A joint team of Baidyanathpur, Gosainnuagaon and Town police had been conducting raids at different locations to bust the bike lifters’ gang. L Shiva’s luck ran out February 18 as he was arrested red-handed by the team. The police recovered nine bikes that were lifted from different areas, informed Routray.
“Our investigation is on and soon the other members of the gang will be apprehended,” he added.
