Bhubaneswar/Jagatsinghpur: Odisha’s Opposition BJD Friday condemned the alleged vandalisation of a statue of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik near the Siali Beach in Jagatsinghpur district, and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
A delegation of the party led by its district unit president Prashant Muduli met the Jagatsinghpur SP, and expressed concern over “police inaction even after 24 hours” of the incident.
The Odisha Police are yet to come out with an official statement regarding the incident.
Muduli said “Disrespect towards the great son of Odisha, Biju babu, is absolutely unacceptable, and an insult to the entire state”.
“Vandalising the statue of the legendary leader is highly condemnable,” he told reporters here.
The BJD also threatened to hit the streets in protest if the BJP government does not take immediate action against those responsible for the act.
The Odisha Police are yet to come out with an official statement regarding the incident.
