Bhubaneswar: The state unit of the BJP Saturday announced that they will soon launch a website and would also install a public box at the party office here to get regular inputs from the people which help them in making the party manifesto for the 2019 elections.
The party conducted its maiden meeting of the manifesto committee under the chairmanship of party leader Biswa Bhushan Harichandan. There are 14 members in the committee who are now brainstorming to come forth with a proper party manifesto which will woo the voters.
Harichandan after the meeting informed reporters that a box will be set up at the party office to get regular public feedback and a dedicated website to seek the response of the electorate of Odisha. The website is slated to be launched, January 27, he said.
“Today we had our first meeting of the manifesto committee and we discussed several issues for making the ‘sankalpa patra’. We have decided that members of the panel would visit all the 30 districts of the state and hold discussions with the voters to get their feedbacks before we make the manifesto,” Harichandan stated.
He informed that the discussions for the manifesto are likely to culminate before February 15 keeping in view the announcement of the poll dates during first week of March by the Election Commission.
When asked about the inclusion of farm loan waiver proposal in their manifesto, he said, “We will discuss all the issues in our manifesto meetings including this. We will also read the national and state manifesto of the party formulated in 2014 and incorporate some points from there.”
The party meanwhile termed the decision of the BJD to abstain from the opposition party meet in Kolkata as its own personal decision but said that ‘Mahagathbandhan’ will not affect the politics in Odisha.
Commenting on the repeated demands of providing special status to Odisha and women reservation, the BJP termed the BJD government ‘ignorant’ on both the issues.
Harichandan said, “Who is against the 33 per cent reservation to women. The BJD suddenly has started campaigning for the issue as their own agenda without knowing the facts.”
