Bhubaneswar: The state leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday raised objections on the decision of the state government to close down the Odisha State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) and accused the state government of working on anti-people policies.
Party senior leader Biswa Bhushan Harichandan Friday told reporters that the decision was unfortunate and should not have been taken. While interacting with the media from the BJP state headquarter he said, “The state government has decided to close down the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT). The SAT was envisioned to cut down the higher pendency of cases before the Odisha High Court. It was aimed at looking after matters of administrative decisions.”
He also said, “When there was a coalition government between BJP and BJD there were demands of its closure back then s well but I was there and we persisted to not close it down and it was not closed down.”
The veteran leader informed the media that in 2015, the state Cabinet had decided to close it down. “The present incumbent government aims at denying justice to the people of Odisha by closing down the institution.”
The senior party leader and chairman of the Manifesto Committee of BJP in the state said that the state government has been working on anti-people policies and implement those policies in a dictatorial way.
The leader while addressing the press conference also said, “The Odisha government’s ways seem anti-people. When the BJP-BJD had a coalition government, I had protested against BJD’s conspiracy theories. If BJP comes to power in the upcoming elections, the SAT will be re-established.”
