Balasore: The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party came down heavily on the state government over chit fund scam.
Addressing a presser here, Friday, BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar and other leaders said, “The state government has made a provision of corpus fund to pay back the chit fund victims, but the list of victims is not out till date. A special court had been opened to deal with chit fund cases a year ago, but a judge has not been appointed for it. This is unfortunate for all chit fund victims.”
She added that the government has been falsely assuring people of refund of money to the victims. BJP district unit president Madanmohan Datt alleged that the government has been favouring chit fund fraudsters.
Both the leaders alleged that 40 percent of commission made by fraudsters in chit fund has gone to some ruling party leaders while the condition of victims is turning worse by the day.
They pointed out that MLAs Prabhat Biswal, Prabhat Tripathy and MP Ramchandra Handah had been arrested in connection with the chit fund frauds, but they are now out on bail.
The BJP leaders alleged that typist Sharat Sahu, who had been keeping accounts of the party funds, has links with the chit fund scam.
