Baripada: A BJP leader was allegedly beaten to death by three miscreants near Kusumpur Chowk under Kaptipada police limits in Mayurbhanj district Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Kumar Pradhan (48). He was the in-charge of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Balasore district.
According to a source, Pradhan was heading towards his in-laws’ house at Nuasahi village in his car. On his way, he had a spat with three youths who were travelling on a motorcycle over some reason. The three men overtook the car and stopped the car. They then dragged Pradhan out of his car and started beating him mercilessly and left the place.
Later, Pradhan was somehow rescued and rushed to Udula sub-divisional hospital. The doctors there declared him received dead.
The police have detained three persons in this connection and launched an investigation.
