Bhubaneswar: Coming down heavily on two BJP MLAs who were absent at the House Committee of Odisha Assembly on paddy MSP, BJD MLA Sanjay Das Burma informed that two BJP members K V Singhdeo and Bibhuti Bhushan Harichand did not turn up. He said that this shows that the party has no interest on the issue and it is not concerned about the development of the farmers.
He informed that the House Committee of Odisha Assembly on paddy MSP Friday decided to meet President Ram Nath Kovind over its demand after a meeting of the panel.
A memorandum will be submitted to the President urging for hike of paddy MSP to Rs 2,930 per quintal, Das Burma said. “It is unfortunate that the Prime Minister didn’t give time to meet the committee,” he said.
In the House Committee of the assembly the Speaker of Odisha Assembly, members of the BJD and the leaders of the opposition were present.
A unanimous resolution was passed to demand revision of MSP of paddy to Rs 2,930 per quintal. The house committee under the chairmanship of the Speaker was constituted to discuss the issue with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, there was no response to the request of the panel which had sought the appointment of the Prime Minister or his office.
