Kendrapara: BJP candidate for Kendrapara Assembly seat Sunakar Behera has approached the Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) accusing BJD candidate for Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat Arup Patnaik of using government machinery in his party’s electoral campaign.
Citing that using a government funded organization such as Biju Yuva Vahini for his party’s campaign is a gross violation of Model Code of Conduct, Behera wrote to the CEO Friday and demanded action against Patnaik.
According to the BJP candidate, Patnaik had convened a meeting of as Biju Yuva Vahini at a hotel few days back and had asked the members to campaign for the BJD candidate of Kendrapara.
“Biju Yuva Vahini is a government funded organization. Engaging its members in the election campaign is a gross violation of the model code of conduct. I have urged the CEO to initiate action against Patnaik,” said Behera.
A video of the said meeting has gone viral on social media, he added.
