BJP observes 12-hr bandh in Gajapati district

Paralakhemundi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is observing a 12-hour bandh in Gajapati district, demanding the removal of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged links with the key accused Gobinda Sahu in Mamita Meher murder case.

The saffron party has also been demanding CBI probe into the Mamita Meher murder case.

The bandh started from 6:00 am. The party workers are seen picketing at different places. They are raising ant-government slogans and burning effigies of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra.

While vehicular movement is off the road, shops, markets, business establishments, offices and educational institutions are closed in all the seven blocks of the district. However, medicine shops, ambulance, fire brigade and milk vans have been kept out of the bandh purview.

The party is also observing an 8-hour bandh in Jharsuguda district.

The party has already observed 12-hour and 6-hour bandhs in districts like Boudh, Balasore, Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Nuapada, Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Bolangir and Kalahandi over the same demands.
