Jharigaon: A 40-year-old man died after his father allegedly stabbed him during an argument at Kusumpani village under Jharigaon block in Nabarangpur district, police said Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Nidi Santa, son of Das Santa of Kusumpani.
According to police, Nidi and his father had an argument Tuesday night, during which Das allegedly stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife.
Nidi suffered critical injuries, including a deep wound to his head, and his intestines reportedly protruded from his abdomen.
He was initially taken to the Jharigaon Community Health Centre and later shifted to the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital.
He was subsequently referred to the SLN Medical College and Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment Wednesday morning.
Following his death, Nidi’s wife, Bamuni, lodged a complaint at the Jharigaon police station.
Police registered a murder case (179/2026) in connection with the incident.
Inspector Rachita Madkami of Jharigaon police station visited the village and conducted an investigation.
Police seized the knife allegedly used in the attack and detained Das for questioning.
Sub-Inspector K Laxmi Narayan Dora went to the SLN Medical College and Hospital, where the body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.
