Bhawanipatna: In a curious turn of events, a ticket aspirant from the saffron party here has turned ascetic after losing out on a ticket for the Assembly elections.
According to sources, Rohit Durga, a resident of Statue Square here, used to be an active member of BJP since the past two years and was expecting that he would be nominated by the party from the Bhawanipatna Assembly segment. He claimed to have received assurances from several district and state leaders on this count as well.
However, his Assembly ambitions ran into rough weather after BJP decided to field Pradeep Nayak from this seat.
Shaken beyond disbelief, Rohit has started donning saffron robes and stopped using footwear. This apart, he has stopped consuming non-vegetarian food.
He still is hopeful that by taking such measures he will get a party ticket when the next Assembly elections come around. But then 2024 is far away and nobody really knows what fate has in store for Rohit then.
