Blackmail: Family drama with a touch of suspense

Playing a double role in a film needs good acting skills. There are not many Oriya films where the lead actor plays a double role. But in the upcoming film Blackmail, actor Ardhendu will be seen in a double role with Tamanna and Ahana taking the female leads.
“I am playing the characters of Dev and Anurag. While Dev is a brat who loves dancing and acting, Anurag is a businessman. Unlike the characters that I have played in my earlier films, this role is quite challenging and completely different,” says Ardhendu.

Blackmail is the actor’s fourth film after Kanuri Kanya, Tapori and A Aa Harshai. This is also his second film as producer. “This is a romantic family drama with action and suspense. I am applying the lessons that I learned in Tapori, my first film as a producer,” he says.

Actress Tamanna will be seen opposite the character Anurag in the film. Blackmail is her third film following Bhaina Kan Kala Se and Nijhum Ratira Sathi. She says, “I play a rich girl who gets whatever she wants. She even gets the boy she loves. But, in the end, she has to make sacrifices.”

Blackmail is Ahana’s second film after Bhairav. She is paired with the character Dev. “This role is completely different from the one in my earlier film,” she says. “In Bhairav, I was a rowdy village girl but here I am playing an urban girl. I play a bubbly working girl from a middle class family. There is some suspense about my love life in the film which I would not like to reveal at this stage.”

The film casts veterans such as Siddhant Mohapatra, George Tiadi, Jiban Panda, Salil Da and Pratibha Panda in the other roles while Pragnya and Guddu provide the comedy element.

The music has been composed by Premanand while Bapu Goswami has penned the screenplay and dialogues. Blackmail is written, choreographed and directed by Amit Nayak.
