Paralakhemundi: The District Election Officer and District Collector have suspended a booth-level officer (BLO), an assistant teacher, for alleged dereliction of duty and disobedience of official orders.
The action relates to a polling station under the Kashinagar block in the 137-Paralakhemundi Assembly constituency in Gajapati district.
According to the office order No. 239/Election, Ramanuj Das, BLO of Booth No. 110 at Sidhamadanga, was found negligent in carrying out the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll as mandated under the Representation of the People Acts, 1950 and 1951.
During the suspension period, Das has been directed not to leave his headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority. He will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules, DEO and Collector Akshay Sunil Agrawal said.
The suspension order stated that Das failed to perform his assigned duties without any valid reason. His actions were deemed a serious lapse, reflecting negligence, dereliction of duty and violation of lawful instructions.
