Bhubaneswar: Members affiliated to Block Grant (New Aided) Secondary School Teachers and Employees Association Monday took out a rally and staged a dharna at Lower PMG to press for their pending demands, including provision of pension.
The association, representing over 6,000 teachers and employees who have served in new grant-in-aid schools since 2004, cited discrimination in government policies and apathy of the government in redressal of their grievances despite repeated representations to the School & Mass Education department and the School & Mass Education department.
In an official letter to the Chief Secretary, the association urged authorities to address their concerns before December 5, 2025 to avert the planned agitation.
The major demands include provision of pension and other benefits as per 1981 rules, provision of GPF in accordance with 1983 rules, service conditions as per 1974 rules, leave rules of 1977, extension of retirement age up to 62 years, career advancement incentives after 48 years of age, and regularisation of Class IV employees.
Association President Kishore Kumar Mohanty and General Secretary Ashok Kumar Lenka said, “It was a peaceful demonstration aimed at drawing attention to the “apathetic and step-motherly attitude of the government towards our long-standing demands.”
The association has appealed to the government to resolve the issues promptly to avoid an intensifi ed agitation planned in near future.
