Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has stepped up its anti-dengue campaign across the City, focusing on public awareness, elimination of mosquito breeding sites and preventive measures ahead of the peak monsoon season.
As part of the drive launched July 1, under the direction of BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana, special teams deployed across the corporation’s three administrative zones have been carrying out door-to-door surveys in wards, colonies, slums and residential areas.
Health workers, Swachh Sathis, community facilitators, anti-larval teams and volunteers are educating residents on dengue prevention while identifying and destroying mosquito breeding sources.
According to BMC, officials have visited 40,639 households and reached out to 1,27,517 people during the campaign. Mosquito breeding spots were detected in 3,554 households and immediately destroyed.
