Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been accused of neglecting its retired employees and ignoring directives issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department regarding pension-related services.
The department, through a written order (No. 8603) dated April 22, 2025, had directed the BMC to provide pension payment order (PPO) books to retired employees and facilitate the online submission of life certificates.
However, more than a year later, the civic body is yet to implement the directives, the employees’ association alleged. At a general body meeting held at the Recreation Club on the premises of the old BMC office, the association decided to submit a memorandum to the BMC commissioner October 23, demanding that the PPO books and online life certificate submission facilities be provided within 15 days.
The association warned that it would stage a sit-in outside the BMC headquarters if its demands were not met within the stipulated period.
