BMC seals SBI branch as several staff test positive for COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: The civic body in Bhubaneswar sealed a branch of State Bank of India (SBI) at Shriya Square in Kharavel Nagar area for the next four days starting from Thursday as many of its staff have contracted COVID-19 infection, a BMC official informed.

The SBI office here was a specialised branch and centralised pension processing centre (CCPC) as well, the official expressed.

“In larger public interest and to contain further spread of virus, SBI (CCPC) at Shriya Square is hereby sealed for a period of four days from April 29 to May 2,” an order issued by the BMC stated.

Premises of the branch will be sanitised with immediate effect in strict adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols, the civic body’s order added.

Excepting the authorised personnel of BMC, no outsider will be allowed to trespass into or to move outside from the branch premises during the sealed days, the BMC official further said.

Notably, the COVID-19 infected employees of SBI have been asked to remain under home isolation. The branch chief has been directed to inform the BMC if any symptoms are observed in other staff.
