Cuttack: Bhakta Madhu Vidyapitha (BMV) entered the semifinals of the VIIth Basant Kumar Das Memorial Senior Inter-School football tournament beating Railway Settlement School 1-0 in a quarterfinal match here, Monday. Chintu Samal of BMV was adjudged the best player of the match.
Meanwhile, Ganga Mandir Project School (GMPS) sealed their last eight spot in the 19th Bhagaban Das Memorial Inter-School Junior football tournament after scraping past City High School, Raja Bagicha 2-1. Dayananda Sahoo of the winning team was adjudged the player of the match.
In another match MPL School, Chaudhury Bajar defeated PM Academy by a solitary goal. Subham Das bagged the player of the match award.
Rameswar emerge champs
Rameswar Sporting, Bhubaneswar emerged champions in the Gopinath Pur Challenger Trophy cricket tournament beating Rising Student by one wicket in a keenly-contested match at Bhandaripokhari, Bhadrak, Sunday.
Opting to bat, Rising Student scored for 119 all out in 21 overs with Pratik Das (55) emerging as the highest scorer. Subrat Behera, Rakesh Sharma and Paresh Patel picked up two wickets each for Rameswar Sporting.
Chasing a victory target of 120, Rameswar scrambled home in 22 overs for the loss of nine wickets with Paresh (39) leading the run chase. Paresh was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
