R Udayagiri: Police have arrested three persons in connection with the killing of a villager whose body was found hidden inside a rock cavity near Kadamuli under Purunapani panchayat in Gajapati district.
The victim was identified as Shiba Nayak of Dhepsankarakhali village under Digapahandi police station in Ganjam district. According to police, Nayak was murdered last week following a drunken altercation.
The accused allegedly crushed him to death with stones and later concealed the body in a rock cavity on a nearby hill. When Shiba did not return home, his family searched for him at various places but found no trace.

His brother then lodged a complaint at R Udayagiri police station. Acting on the complaint, police questioned several villagers, leading the suspects to confess. They also pointed out the location where the body had been hidden.
The body was subsequently recovered, and the three accused were taken into custody, police said.
