Dharakote: The body of a lightning-struck person was recovered from Rushikulya river bed at Bahada village under this block in Ganjam district Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Ramesh Chandra Gaud (45) of Gopinath Sahi of Bahada village.
Ramesh had gone to the riverbed Friday evening to attend the call of nature. His family members grew apprehensive when he did not return in the night. After a frantic search, his body was found at the river bed Saturday morning.
Dharakote ASI Basant Kumar Mishra reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Local tehsildar inspected the spot and informed that compensation would be given to the deceased’s family after the autopsy report.
Two buffaloes were also killed in lightning at Janabili village the same day, according to reports.
