Ratnagiri: The body of a man was found on the bank of Brahmani River, near Ramchandrapur police limits under Bari block in Jajpur district Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Bidhyadhar Patra (35), a resident of Koradapipali village near Balibili panchayat.
According to police officials, some local residents first spotted the body floating on the bank of the river Tuesday evening before alerting the local police.
On being informed, IIC of Ramchandrapur police station Markonda Chandra Mishra and Sub-inspector Narayan Chandra Behera reached the spot and recovered the body from the river with the help of Biju Yuva Vahini workers and local villagers. Later, the police then informed the deceased’s family.
Police sent the body to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for an autopsy after registering a case of unnatural death bearing case no. 17/2019. Whether it is a case of murder or suicide will be ascertained after the post-mortem report, said IIC Markonda Chandra Mishra.
