Bhubaneswar: To facilitate training facilities for budding shooters of the state, the Orissa Rifle Association (ORA) and Utkal Karate School (UKS) are jointly organising a summer camp at the UKS premises here, May 1-5.
“Sixty participants from different parts of the state are taking part in this five-day long camp. The second part of this camp will start here May 8. Aspiring shooters above 12 years of age can participate in the camp,” informed UKS founder Hari Patnaik through a press release Friday.
“Apart from the shooters, members of different security agencies, NCC cadets as well as license holders can also take part in the camp. All the skills of shooting and handling of air rifle, air pistol, .22 rifle and pistols will be taught in the camp. Internationally acclaimed shooters will impart training in the camp,” Patnaik added.
Odisha emerge champs
Odisha emerged champions of the National Tennis ball cricket tournament beating hosts Jharkhand by six wickets in the final at Ranchi, Thursday.
Put into bat first, Jharkhand scored 120 for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated 15 overs. In reply Odisha achieved the target in only 10 overs for the loss of four wickets. Sudhir Soni (72) led the run chase with a whirlwind half century and was adjudged man of the match.
Coaching course
The AIFF will organise a ‘C’ license coaching course at Cuttack, June 10-12. All ‘D’ license holders are eligible for the advanced course. Interested candidates should register on the AIFF website for necessary information.
