Bhubaneswar: Prayash Singh (3/6) and Abhishek Raut (3/14) bowled splendidly on a bowler-friendly wicket to help Orissa register an emphatic 51 runs victory over Assam in a match of the East Zone T20 League at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, Wednesday. This was the first victory for Orissa in the tournament as they had lost their first match against Bengal.
Put into bat first, Orissa started well, but their batsmen failed to consolidate on the starts they got. Debashis Samantray (25, 25b, 1×4), skipper Anurag Sarangi (22, 13b, 4×4) and Subhranshu Senapati (16, 13b, 2×4) began well, but threw their wickets away after getting settled. Even then they put up a fighting score of 128 for nine in 20 overs. Abu Nechim Ahmed (2/13) and Pritam Das (2/25) bowled well for Assam.
In reply, Assam were bowled out for 77 in 17.2 overs. Only Rishav Das (26, 19b, 5×4) offered some resistance with the bat. Suryakant Pradhan (1/18) and Paresh Patel (1/6) also picked up a wicket apiece.
Scorecard: Orissa 128/9 (Debashis Samantray 25; Abu Nechim 2/13) bt Assam 77 (Rishav Das; Prayash Singh 3/6, Abhishek Raut 3/14) by 51 runs.
