New Delhi: Long-serving Indian boxing coach Gurbax Singh Sandhu has been honoured with the National Awards for senior citizens by President Ramnath Kovind at a function here Monday evening. “I am thoroughly honoured to be considered worthy of ‘Vayoshreshtha Samman’ – a scheme of National Awards for senior citizens. I am grateful to the President of India for this,” Sandhu stated after being bestowed with the honour. Sandhu was India’s longest-serving men’s national coach, occupying the position for two decades before he was handed charge of the women campers earlier this year.
