Berhampur: A student committed suicide a day before the announcement of results of the Plus II Science examination by the Odisha Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE)at Gayatri Nagar near Bada Bazar in Berhampur town Friday .
The dead was Rajesh Kumar Panda (19), son of Ajit Kumar Panda. According to reports, Rajesh was studying Plus II Science stream at a private college in the Silk City here. He had failed to pass the exam twice in the past. Fearful of failure in this year’s exam too, the results of which were expected this Saturday , Rajesh took the extreme step by setting himself on fire. He poured kerosene over his body while his parents went out for daily purchases.
Police started an investigation after registering an unnatural death case. The charred body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem.
