Boyanika eyes Rs 1crore biz from e-platforms

Bhubaneswar, November 4: Orissa State Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society Ltd- Boyanika is eyeing sales turnover of around Rs 1 crore from e-commerce platforms by the end of March, 2016, an official of the co-operative society said.        

 

     “We are hopeful to realise revenue of Rs 1crore from e-platforms from digital commerce. This will come from sales through our own website as well through our e-commerce partner, Snapdeal,” the official of the department said. He also said that the department is in talks with other e-tailers to expand its online reach. By the end of September quarter, the company has already realised about Rs 22 lakh through sales in digital platform.

       On its overall revenue, he said the department has already achieved a turnover of Rs 37 crore till date and is hopeful to end this fiscal at Rs 90 crore. “Boyanika has realised revenue of Rs 77 crore during last fiscal,” he added.

        Talking on various steps to reach the revenue target, the official said Boyanika plans to organise another 30-40 exhibitions both in the state along with some in other states. It also plans to organise five special handlooms expo by this fiscal and will also take part in National Handloom Expo in Bhubaneswar. Nearly 100 participants all across the country will take part in the national exhibition this time, he added.

       “Apart from conducting expos, the department is also planning to increase its number of stores to 48 by opening new stores in Dhenkanal, Mumbai and New Delhi,” he said adding with the opening of another mega showroom in Delhi, the number of showrooms in the national capital will increase to three.
