Bargarh: Odisha State Handloom Weavers Co-op Society Ltd (Boyanika), the apex society for marketing hand-woven cloth in the state, is organising the “National Handloom Expo 2017-18” at Bhatli Chhak, Bargarh, from December 22 to January 10 on the occasion of world famous “Dhanu Yatra.”
The event also aims at facilitating sustainable livelihood to the weavers from across the country by providing them with a common platform for marketing their handloom products, a press note released Saturday said. This year, the main attraction is the ‘Theme Pavilion,’ which is a replication of the Taj Mahal.
The expo, inaugurated by Snehangini Chhuria, state minister for handlooms, textiles and handicrafts, Friday, is being sponsored by Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Union Ministry of Textiles.
Leading PWCS from the state, handloom organisations from different states across the country are participating in the exhibition, comprising about 60 stalls. The expo will remain open from 11.30 am to 9.00 pm daily.
